As a content marketer, I write a lot of blog articles. Some days, I sit down at my computer and enter a flow state where the words pour out of me and onto the page. Other times, it can be more of a grind. I sit there feeling antagonized by the blank screen, not knowing where to start. Or I get a few pages in, and the article feels uninspired or superficial.

I’ve been using ChatSpot daily since its release and have said goodbye to writer’s block. The powerful new chatbot by HubSpot helps me develop new ideas, do research on the fly, and reword entire paragraphs with the click of a button. Now, I’m writing better blog articles faster.

I’m excited to share the tips and tricks I’ve learned with you to get similar results. Let’s dive in!

Introducing HubSpot's ChatSpot AI app

What is ChatSpot?

ChatSpot is a chatbot by HubSpot that combines their already powerful software with OpenAI’s generative AI tools, ChatGPT and Dall-E, to radically simplify countless tasks that you do every day.

ChatGPT is an AI-powered chatbot capable of answering questions and responding to commands in such a humanlike way that it can feel a bit unnerving at first.

You can ask it simple questions, like “What is the capital of Vermont?” to more complex ones, like “How does a car engine work?” Or, you can ask it to do something more creative, like “write a love letter to my pet bird, Larry, in the style of a haiku poem.”

Beloved Larry bird,
Wings spread wide, your soar and chirp,
My heart sings with you.

Yes, AI wrote that!

Dall-E is ChatGPT’s less famous but equally talented sister. It’s capable of generating completely original images on command. You could ask it to create “a watercolor of an opossum wearing a tuxedo” or “a photorealistic image of a dog smoking a cigar,” and it will deliver you several options to choose from.

Yup, AI created that too!

ChatSpot pairs these cutting-edge capabilities with HubSpot’s sales and marketing tools to make your job easier. ChatSpot can be used to improve your content creation process

7 ChatSpot Prompts You Can Use to Write Spectacular Blog Articles

So, how exactly does one use ChatSpot to simplify the content creation process? It’s all about the prompts, baby! Prompts are what you input into ChatSpot for it to provide you with output. In other words, prompts are the questions you ask ChatSpot or commands you give it.

Here are some of my favorite prompts when I’m writing a new article:

1. Create an Outline

Often, the most challenging part of writing is just getting started. Our high school writing teachers would tell us to begin every paper by drafting an outline. This advice works with blogging too, but you don’t have to write the outline yourself. With the right prompt, ChatSpot will generate ideas for your article and organize them into an outline format.

Prompt to try: “Draft an outline of a blog post about [insert topic]”

2. Keyword Research

If you want your article to rank on Google, you need to optimize it for the right keywords. But what are the right keywords? Keyword research, the cornerstone of every SEO strategy, just got a whole lot easier. With ChatSpot, you can find target keywords, see which keywords your competitor ranks for, and even determine which keywords deliver the most traffic.

Prompt to try: “Give me a keyword report for [Insert your company Url]”

3. Reword/Rewrite Content

You know those times when you’re struggling to find the right words? You know what you’re trying to say, and you’ve managed to get something down on paper, but it’s just not all the way there. For times like these, ChatSpot can take what you have and reword or rewrite it.

Prompts to try: “Rewrite this to be clearer: [insert text]” or “Rewrite this to sound more authoritative: [insert text]”

4. Explain Complicated Jargon

Do you write for a complex industry full of jargon? Too much technical language in your writing can turn your audience off. Let ChatSpot help you break down complex terms into simpler language, making your article easier to read.

Prompts to try: “Explain [insert topic] in simpler terms” or “Explain [insert topic] to me like I am 5 years old” (Yes, this actually works!)

5. Find Statistics

A strong stat can beef up your blog post, but it can be time-consuming to sift through report after report to find the right stat to hammer your point home. Why not save some time with ChatSpot’s assistance?

Prompt to try: “Give me a stat about the importance of [insert your topic] with source”

6. Create Custom Images

Images are a great way to break up text and make your blog article more visually appealing. Most of us don’t have the budget for custom photography, so we’re left sifting through page after page of corny stock photography, trying to find something that doesn’t suck.

ChatSpot taps into the awesome power of DALL-E, capable of creating AI-generated images limited only by your imagination. All you need to do is describe what you’re looking for, and ChatSpot does the rest. You can even set your preferred visual style inside of ChatSpot to create consistency across your images.

It’s pretty crazy what it can generate too. Like this groovy example of the movie Alien meets a 90’s Trapper Keeper:

DALL-E Image of Alien Xenomorph in the style of Lisa Frank

And that’s just one example of the many ways people are having fun with DALL-E.

Prompts to try: “Create an image of [description of image] in the style of [description of style]”

7. Write the Perfect Title

Advertising legend David Ogilvy once said, “When you have written your headline, you have spent eighty cents out of your dollar.” What he means is that the headline is the most important part of your article, so it’s important to get it right. With ChatSpot, it’s never been easier to write the perfect title.

Prompt to try: “Give me 5 title options for this blog post [insert post text]”
